Manufactured by: Wheel Skins
Website: www.wheelskins.com
Application: E46 M3 and most other BMW's - Direct Replacement when used with non-integrated knob

If you want to replace your stock knob with an aftermarket one or even a BMW OEM knob that is not attached to shift boot you have three options: First, to cut your existing knob off and reuse the stock boot, second option is to purchase an OEM boot from a model that does not have an integrated shift knob (like a regular 3 series) or you can purchase an aftermarket boot.

I've had experience with WheelSkins products from previous automobiles so I chose to go with their shift boot when I replaced my stock shift knob with the UUC Rob Knob III. The WheelSkins boot requires that you remove the boot frame (the plastic part at the bottom of the boot) from the stock boot. This is easy and quick to do and if you ever want to go back to the stock boot/knob combo you can easily do so (you will have to re-glue the leather to the frame - nothing is perfect)

The WheelSkins boot is made of thicker and more substantial feeling leather than the stock version. The seams are perfect and the finish is an excellent low gloss. The boot matches well with the stock e-brake boot in my car (gray leather with black shift and e-brake boots). The WheelSkins boot has an elastic band around the bottom that helps it stay on the boot frame (no gluing required). The boot stays in place securely once installed in the car. The whole installation process takes less than 10 minutes.

Overall, this is an excellent product wthat compliments the interior of the car well and looks and feels better than the stock piece it replaces. I think this is a far better option than cutting the stock boot or paying around $60 for an OEM replacement when installing an aftermarket shift knob.

Hope this has been at least somewhat helpful…
